Where have we been?

Sick, laying around on the couch.  That’s where.  Hopefully we will have some lovely Samhain & Dias de los Muertos stuff for you this weekend.  Wish us luck and lots of garlic.

Tuesday

Margie:
~Did a lesson in spelling. Some of the words were: beginner, skinny, seeing, agreed, disagreed, we, wee, etc
~Math – addition, sums ending in from 10-20
~Copywork/Memorization – my cell phone # (it seems to make more sense to learn this number before my home one since it is always with me)

Monday

Long, hard day.
Margie (in her own words):
~”Did all of my math perfectly almost.”
~”Had to copy spelling?”
~”And that thing that we also did – notebooking?”
(In my words):
~Finished up notebooking from last week.
~Did one spelling lesson – she had to copy all the words a second time as a consequence for being rude and wasting my time.
~One [...]

Friday

MUCH better day on all counts!
Margie:
~2 exercises in math (to make up for the lack of yesterday). Reviewed numbers 11-20. Again. It sounds very below her level – and it is – but I like the way they do it and build on it from there. Or I’d skip it.

Today was… interesting. It was the sort of day where I try to lock myself in the closet only to realize I don’t actually have any locks on my closets. It was a pleasant and needed break from ourselves to visit with friends at and after art class.

Tuesday we got back on track.
Margie:
~Math: review numbers 11-20, learn groupings and [...]

Friday

Margie:
~Second lesson of spelling. She begged for it. It’s suddenly become her favorite. AND she retained what she learned last lesson (Wednesday). Nice.
~Last math review exercise. We’ll start a new lesson on Monday.
~Copywork – this week she’s been working on the Wiccan Law of Three. This is something that struck [...]

This month’s field trip was to a pumpkin patch. Unfortunately, it was quite far and also fell during flu season so not many people showed up and, since we all had different “packages” we mostly ended up going our separate ways. I was so discombobulated when I arrived – between incorrect map directions, [...]

Wednesday

Margie:
~Completed a notebooking page on the bunnies we observed last week. In the process, I showed her how to use Wikipedia (in other words, to verify the info elsewhere) and what sorts of sites are more likely to have accurate information on subjects like native species. We discovered that the rabbits we saw [...]
