(And preschool, too.)
Despite the fact that I think grade levels (as well as grades given to mark progress) are silly – at least at these young ages – since we utilize a public charter school, it sort of goes with the territory. I’m OK with it because the benefits outweigh these little negatives.
Anyway, that [...]

Claire did a fantastic project which involved mixing colors (for the sea and sunset sky), texturizing paints (waves) and working with perspective (forming cut-out shapes of different sizes into boats). You can see an example in Margie’s finished painting below.
The Rest of This Week

Tuesday the kids had a dental appointment which resulted in an additional dental appointment for Margie the next day. She needed three teeny fillings. During the process, I learned that their dentist never uses amalgam for fillings. I was stoked. They have also never blinked when I refuse fluoride so I [...]

Yesterday morning I walked out to the car for a moment and heard a loud yelp on the roof, looked up and saw two grows and a hawk having a disagreement. After they flew off, I grabbed our Birds of San Diego book to determine which hawk it was and I think it was [...]

Yesterday Elliott spotted a butterfly so we sat and watched it for quite awhile. It was a light grayish color with some almost bluish color inside the wings. It had orange dots at the bottom of it’s wings and what looked like antennae below the dots. It’s body was quite white and [...]

Margie has been taking jazz lessons at the Rec Center for a few weeks now and they had a performance yesterday at our town’s Lemon Festival. She was so excited – a feeling I cannot relate to so much about being onstage. But she loved every second of it. She did pretty well for only [...]

Today we took a short hike at Torrey Pines, which was representative of our mountain region. It’s an amazing park on the cliffs overlooking the sea. And we were blessed to have an amazing day full of the brightest colors I’d seen in awhile (so often San Diego is drowned in ugly brown smog). The [...]

We haven’t been doing much recently as I reformulate and prepare for the school year – more on that later.
Over the weekend we met with our friends to celebrate Lammas, or Lughnasadh (which is pronounced “Gesundheit”. Just kidding). This holiday is the first of the harvest holidays so we celebrated with lots of [...]
